The University of Ouagadougou ( French L'Université de Ouagadougou ) is a university in Ouagadougou , the capital of the West African state of Burkina Faso . The university was founded in 1974. The campus is located in the eastern district of Zogona . The current President Odile Germaine Nacoulma has held the office since 2006.

history

The University of Ouagadougou was founded in 1974 when the state of Burkina Faso was still called Upper Volta . In the year it was founded, the university had 374 students. In 1995 a second campus of the university was established in Bobo-Dioulasso , and a third in 1996 in Koudougou . In the 2003/2004 training year the number of students was around 20,000.
