The University of Split ( Croatian : Sveučilište u Splitu ; Latin : Universitas Studiorum Spalatanensis ) is a state university founded in 1974 in the Croatian port city of Split . The University of Split, like many other universities in southern Europe, is growing rapidly; The new Split University Library, completed in 2006 and designed by the Croatian architect Jurica Jelavič, has a total area of 8,600 m² including an underground reading room with 500 reading places.
