The Catholic University of Croatia ( Croatian : Hrvatsko katoličko sveučilište ; Latin : Universitas Studiorum Catholica Croatica ) is a private papal university of the Catholic Churches in the Croatian capital Zagreb . The university was founded on June 3, 2006.

history

On October 12, 2004, at the 29th plenary session of the Croatian Bishops' Conference in Zadar, the founding of the Catholic University of Croatia was decided. The construction was sponsored by the Bishops' Conference; The university was founded by the Archdiocese of Zagreb .

On July 3, 2008, the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sport granted the university a five-year license to establish courses in psychology, sociology and history. The first year of study began in 2010/2011 when 40 students were enrolled in the first year of history.

During his visit to Croatia on June 4, 2011 , Pope Benedict XVI called the foundation of the university a “sign of hope”.

The first courses in psychology and sociology started in 2012/13. Students received their first bachelor's degrees in history in 2014. In July 2014, the university received accreditation for its academic work in the field of social sciences and humanities.
