The Rottenmann University Center (short form: UZR) was a joint branch of the Graz University of Technology and the University of Linz in the Upper Styrian town of Rottenmann .

history

The UZR started operating in 2000. It was a joint branch of two parent universities, the teaching staff was provided by both of them, and representatives from both rectorates were present at graduation. The region in Upper Styria with Leoben and Ennstal was promoted as a research landscape and competence region for clean technology . There was also cooperation with the Styrian start-up center Science Park Graz .

In the summer, a children's university took place at the UZR , which was supposed to teach children how to use and acquire knowledge. The start of this project took place on July 19, 2010 in the presence of the responsible state councilor Kristina Edlinger-Ploder .

As part of a project of the regional art festival , a sensational final exam for geoinformation technology took place at 1,600 m above sea level in August 2010 , a UZR graduate supervised the "border walk", during which around 3,000 people walked around the outer border of the Liezen district. The group was localized and guided around the clock by GPS , and the art project could be followed by outsiders on the website.

The Rottenmann University Center was closed on June 30, 2017.
