The University of Wales Press ( Welsh Gwasg Prifysgol Cymru ) was founded in 1922 as one of the central institutions of the University of Wales . The facility functions as both a printer and a publisher. It publishes scientific journals and around 70 specialist books in English and Welsh every year in the fields of history, political philosophy (?) And religious studies, Celtology and cymrology (celtish studies and welsh studies), literary studies, European studies and medieval studies. The publisher has a backlist of more than 3,400 titles.


The seat is in Cardiff .

As the University of Wales is to be merged with Trinity Saint David, the University of Wales Press will also be affected by this merger.

In September 2016 it was announced that they would work with the Open Library of Humanities to make the International Journal of Welsh Writing in English a full open-access journal .
