Unregistered Trade Mark (also Unregistered Trade Mark or Unregistered Trademark ) is the technical term for an unregistered trademark in the trademark law of the Anglo-American legal circle and of states that have subscribed to this right .

Trademarks that are not yet officially registered in a (at least national) trademark register of this legal group can be temporarily identified with the “Unregistered Trade Mark” symbol “™”, which already confirms their elevated legal status . In Germany and Austria, the trademark symbol has no advantages. After registration, trademarks can be marked with the “ Registered Trade Mark ” symbol “®”, which is also used to identify officially registered service marks .

The unregistered trade mark symbol is a small superscript "TM" that is added after the name of the brand. This symbol has the code in the Unicode block Letter-like symbolsU+2122 . The HTML notation is ™, ™or ™. Under Microsoft Windows with CP1252 the character Alt+0153can be entered with the key combination , but the character does not have a three-digit number after CP850 . In ISO 6937 the character has the position 0xD4. On Linux systems with newer versions of X11 , the character can be entered with Compose+ TM. In GTK + or Qt -based applications it can also be generated by pressing Strg+ Umschalttaste+ U, 2122and then pressing the Space or Enter key . Under Mac OS X it is generated with a German keyboard layout using Alt+ Shift+ D. In the text typesetting system TeX or with software packages based on it, such as B.
