Unsolved Mysteries ( German  " Unsolved Mysteries " ) is an American crime series , which deals with the mysterious, unexplained and spectacular murder cases. It is known worldwide and has been translated into over ten languages.

production

A total of 553 episodes have been produced so far. The series was first broadcast by NBC from 1987 to 1997 , CBS from 1997 to 1999 , Lifetime from 2001 to 2002 , Spike from 2008 to 2010 , and Lifetime again since 2010. The repetition of the criminal cases that took place up to the beginning of the 1990s gives the subjective impression that people were particularly often victims of crime during the 1980s. Statistically, however, this is not true. From 1987 to 2002 the series was hosted by actor Robert Stack . Dennis Farina hosted the new edition from 2008 to 2010 .

Over time there have also been some special segments on the topics of ghosts , the supernatural , strange legends , UFOs , miraculous healings . A DVD package was released in the USA containing a selection of the most spectacular cases on 12 DVDs.

In January 2020, the streaming service Netflix announced that it would produce the 15th season. It was broadcast from July 1, 2020.

content

Most of the reporting includes closed cases, but occasionally people are asked to search for a person or to contribute to the clarification of a case with the help of phantom images or other identifying features.

Due to the great success, it was decided in 2010 to produce more seasons about current criminal cases. This will then affect the period from 1995 to 2010. A call was therefore launched on the production company's website with the request to submit possible criminal cases.
