The lower mill is a monument in the municipality of Wennigsen . It stands north of the town of Bredenbeck and is colloquially known there as the old mill . The water-powered mill was fed by the stream of the Bredenbecker Beeke, a source river of the Ihme . It got its name because there was another, upper mill further south on the Beeke.
The mill was part of the extensive business operations of the Bredenbeck-based barons Knigge . Today the mill is used as a residential building; the area is used by a gardening and landscaping company as well as agricultural with sheep breeding.
