Unterfeldhaus is the smallest of the three districts of Erkrath in the Mettmann district . Unterfeldhaus has only existed in its current form since 1970.

Unterfeldhaus was part of the Erkrath district of Unterbach until 1975 , which was incorporated into the city of Düsseldorf as part of the municipal reorganization of North Rhine-Westphalia . However, this separation has never manifested itself culturally and ecclesiastically. The practiced life is still like in a uniform district. Especially since Unterbach has retained a village-like and independent character through a certain spatial remoteness from Düsseldorf and is characterized with Unterfeldhaus by a common and lively club and carnival life, which still extends to Alt-Erkrath today. The traditional carnival Sunday parade in Unterbach has always been a parade for the citizens of Erkrath (and it still is, although an independent carnival parade has been established in Alt-Erkrath for several years, which takes place regularly on the Saturday of the previous week). In addition, the students in Unterbach attend the secondary schools in (Alt-) Erkrath, and the SC Unterbach sports club also has its home ground in the neighboring Unterfeldhaus.

In Unterfeldhaus there is also the largest industrial and commercial area in Erkrath, which is located on the federal highways 3 and 46 . The rest of the district is predominantly characterized by single-family and terraced houses as well as condominiums and has a small-town center with Neuenhausplatz.

The city of Erkrath operates a primary school and a kindergarten in Unterfeldhaus. The Roman Catholic parish of St. Mariä Himmelfahrt from neighboring Unterbach has a branch in Unterfeldhaus. Together with St. John the Baptist in Erkrath, she has formed a pastoral community in the Hilden dean's office, Mettmann district dean of the Archdiocese of Cologne, since January 1, 2010 . The Catholic community center is also used for events and services by the Evangelical Lutheran Church since it had to close its own premises in Unterfeldhaus in 2011 for financial reasons. The Evangelical Free Church Community also operates a room in the district.

history

Main article Erkrath

Originally the corridor area Unterfeldhaus (the name derives from Hof Velthusen , first mentioned in 1218) belonged to the manor Haus Unterbach (first mentioned in 1169). This is, however, not in the (Düsseldorf) Unterbach, but opposite on the other side of the street in the (Erkrather) Unterfeldhaus.

Until 1960 Unterfeldhaus consisted primarily of arable land, most of which belonged to the owners of Haus Unterbach. Loose development had only formed along Millrather Weg , which originally represented the connection route from Unterbach to Millrath , today Hochdahl, and at that time still led along today's Maiblümchen and Max-Planck-Strasse . There were also individual houses in three short stub streets. Otherwise, almost the entire district was created within the 1960s decade. The then Erkrath city director Albert Peters stood for this development , which is why Unterfeldhaus was also popularly called Petershausen .
