Science in Chemistry for (short NIU chemistry ) is a journal for teaching chemistry in secondary I and II. The magazine wants an update on didactic and methodological developments in the teaching subject give chemistry.

Forerunners were the journals Natural Sciences in the Classroom Physics / Chemistry (1985–1990), Natural Sciences in Classroom: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (1970-1976), the magazine for natural science and natural history (1958-1969) and natural science: magazine for the realistic design of the teaching science at elementary schools (1953–1957).

The first edition of NiU-Chemie was published in 1990 by Erhard Friedrich Verlag in collaboration with chemistry teachers Bernd Lutz , Peter Pfeifer and Heinz Schmidkunz . Ilka Parchmann , Markus Rehm , Lutz Stäudel , Sabine Venke and Bernhard Sieve act as additional editors . The group of authors ranges from didacticians, subject managers and trainers to experienced teachers.

The magazine appears every two months on a specific topic in chemistry education . In addition to specialist information, tried and tested teaching models are presented. Experiment instructions and materials are offered, for which exemplary teaching methods are tried out. The magazine aims to inform chemistry teachers about current developments in the subject.
