The term teaching unit comprises several school hours ( teaching hours ) in which a subject area specified by the curriculum is or should be dealt with. So it is primarily a matter of a subject and only secondarily a period of time , as the latter is determined by the scope of the topics.

An example of this is a lesson on the circle (as a sub-area of geometry ), which may include a. Covers area , perimeter , etc.

In Switzerland , a lesson unit is a group of lessons for the same school subject.

The term teaching unit at adult education centers and other educational institutions in Germany is defined as the smallest amount of time that a participant or group of participants can use a service to be paid at the adult education center. It usually lasts 45 minutes. The term is used by most educational institutions, because many potential participants are familiar with the term due to the widespread use of adult education centers in Germany.
