Upayuvaraja I.
Upayuvaraja I. (artificial name for Somdet Brhat Chao Maha Upayuvaraja , whose actual name is not known; * 1597 , † 1622 ) was king of the kingdom of Lan Xang in today's Laos for nine months from 1621 to 1622 .
Life
Upayuvaraja was trained in the royal palace and later appointed heir to the throne ( Upayuvaraja ) by his father Voravongse II . In 1621 he ousted his father and ruled for nine months. In 1622 he died under mysterious circumstances, leaving descendants who, however, were not considered heir to the throne. He was succeeded by Pho Thisarath II (r. 1623-1627) to the throne.
