Ruler of Lan Xang
The rulers of Lan Xang were princes or kings of an area in Southeast Asia that was initially called Rajadharani Sri Sudhana (vulgarized Sawa). Except for a few usurpers, they all came from the Khun Lo dynasty .
The actual kingdom of Lan Xang was established by King Fa Ngum in 1353 and lasted until 1706 when it was divided into the sub-kingdoms of Luang Phrabang , Vientiane and Champasak after disputes over the throne . For most of its existence it was tributary to other empires, such as Burma and Siam .
