Mom Kaeo

Mom Kaeo (full throne name Somdet Brhat-Anya Chao Manikya Kaeva Raja Sri Sadhana Kanayudha ; † 1633 ) was king of the Laotian kingdom of Lan Xang between 1627 and 1633 .

Mom Kaeo was educated in the palace and was the younger brother of the future King Pho Thisarath II ; both descend from King Phra Nga Sen Sulintara Lusai (ruled 1572 to 1575 and 1580 to 1582). After the death of Pho Thisarath II, the nobles elected Mom Kaeo as the new king. His reign was filled with disputes between several aspirants to the throne.

Mom Kaeo died in 1633, leaving two sons:

  • Prince ( Chaofa ) Dharma ( Ton ), who succeeded the throne as Ton Kham
  • Prince ( Chaofa ) Vijaya, who later ruled the kingdom as King Viksai
