Ton Kham

Ton Kham (also Upayuvaraja II. , Full throne name Somdet Brhat Chao Dharmakama Raja Sei Sadhana Kanayudha ; † 1637 ) was king of the Laotian kingdom of Lan Xang between 1633 and 1637 .

Ton Kham was the eldest son of King Mom Kaeo (r. 1627-1633) and was educated at the palace. His father named him heir to the throne and in 1627 gave him the title of Uapayuvarajas , i.e. viceroy. In 1633 he succeeded his father on the throne after his death.

Ton Kham died in 1637, leaving three sons:

  • Prince ( Chaofa ) Somaputra (Somphu), fled to Huế in Annam after his younger brother Sulinyavongsa was proclaimed king in 1638, and died there in 1688; he left two sons:
  • Prince ( Chaofa ) Bunsaya (Bunsu), after his younger brother's accession to the throne, went to the temple of Wat Phu Ho Phu, where he also died
  • Prince ( Chaofa ) Suriyalinga Kumara (Sulinga Khuman), succeeded his father in 1638 as Sulinyavongsa on the throne of Lan Xang

Ton Kham was followed by his younger brother Viksai (r. 1637 to 1638).
