Upper Iowa University
Upper Iowa University ( UIU ) is a private college in the small town of Fayette , Iowa , with approximately 900 students enrolled. The college has 15 centers in the US, Hong Kong , Malaysia and Singapore with distance learning opportunities .
Construction of the university began in 1855, and the first lectures took place in January 1857. Until 1928, UIU was associated with the Methodist Church . The motto of the university is Deo Duce ( Latin "With God as a guide" ).
The sports teams of Upper Iowa University will Peacocks ( peacock called). Since 2005 the university has been a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), a university association of sports teams in the American Midwest .
