Urbain Rouziès

Urbain Rouziès (born October 5, 1872 in Morlhon , Aveyron , † January 9, 1956 in Paris ) was head of the library of the Institut Catholique de Paris and one of the founders of the Dictionnaire d'histoire et de geographie ecclésiastiques .

In 1894 he entered the Oratorian Congregation and was ordained a priest in 1896 . He founded the "Dictionnaire" in 1908 together with Alfred Baudrillart (1859–1942) and Albert Vogt (1874–1942) at the suggestion of the Letouzey et Ané publishing house in Paris. The first delivery appeared in 1909, the first volume was completed in 1912. He is co-editor in the first three volumes. In 1919, Rouziès accepted the position of librarian at the Institut Catholique de Paris and soon afterwards resigned his co- editing position with the completion of Volume 3. He finished his work at the Institut Catholique in 1944. He contributed more than 200 articles to the "Dictionnaire" in volumes 1–5.
