Urey is a lunar crater on the easternmost edge of the front of the moon and therefore, if at all, only visible in a strongly distorted manner. It is northwest of Lyapunov crater and southwest of Rayleigh . The rim of the crater is irregular, the wall has recesses and landslides and the interior has a central mountain .

Before the International Astronomical Union has changed the name of the crater when it was Rayleigh A designated.
