Ursel Petersen

Ursel Petersen is a German sports educator .

Life

Petersen studied at the Pädagogische Hochschule (PH) Braunschweig and the German Sport University Cologne and was then employed as an assistant at the PH Braunschweig. In addition to this activity, she studied psychology at the Technical University of Braunschweig . After completing her studies, Petersen took up a position as an assistant in the field of psychology at the University of Education in Göttingen before moving to the Oldenburg University of Education in 1966, where she worked as a university teacher. In 1979 she graduated from the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg , which was founded in 1973 and in which the Pedagogical University was merged, with her doctoral thesis on the subject of "Motivation to do sports through student and problem-oriented physical education". Petersen held a position as professor at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg until October 1, 1997.

The main focus of her scientific work included physical education, the motivation to do sports, gender roles in sports, the problem of motor skills and gymnastics.
