Boyadel Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Bojadłach ) is located in Bojadła , Poland , near the historical border between Brandenburg and Greater Poland . Today the castle is located in the powiat Zielonogórski in the Lubusz Voivodeship .

history

It was temporarily owned by the Jesuits from Glogau. Around 1650 Adam Wenzel von Kottwitz acquired the place, in whose family property it remained until 1904. In 1702 he divided the goods between his sons, with Adam Boyadel. The latter had a baroque palace built in 1707, which his brother David Heinrich inherited in 1720. The castle was almost completely destroyed in a fire in 1731, whereupon today's baroque castle was built.

After the devastation of the Seven Years' War , the interior of the palace was re-stuccoed in the Rococo style . After 1904 the castle was owned by Reinhard von Scheffer .

After the region was taken over by Polish communists , the castle was used as a primary school and a holiday home. After privatization in 1989, the facility fell into disrepair. Today, the Fundacja Pałac Bojadła Foundation takes care of the restoration of the facility. a. to be used as a museum.

Building

The two-storey, three-wing castle is covered by a hipped roof. With the cour d'honneur and two cubic guardhouses with onion domes, the complex opens onto the street. Across the street is the garden, which can still be recognized as a baroque complex. The main building of the castle has a central risalit , the tympanum of which is filled with an inscription cartouche. The main portal, framed by Ionic double pilasters , and the windows with lavish rococo stucco are remarkable .
