Usera is the name of a municipality in Madrid . It is administratively divided into the districts Orcasitas (121), Orcasur (122), San Fermín (123), Almendrales (124), Moscardó (125), Zofío (126) and Pradolongo (127).

A small part of the territory of this district belonged to the municipalities of Carabanchel and Madrid between the late 1940s and early 1950s before the incorporation. Most of the district comes from the areas that belonged to the municipality of Villaverde before it was integrated into Madrid on July 31, 1954.

Building in San Fermín (Usera)

The district got its name from the Usera district, which lies in the north of the district. This district has its origins in a few areas north of the municipality of Villaverde, which belonged to a wealthy farmer who was popularly known as "Uncle Sordillo". A daughter of this farmer married Colonel Marcelo Usera. This military man and businessman decided that building these areas should be more profitable than cultivating them, so between 1925 and 1930 he began to subdivide and sell them. The person in charge of sketching and laying out the roads was Colonel Usera's administrator, which is why he decided to name the streets for the members of the Usera family as well as the service staff and some residents.

Such streets are for example the Isabelita, Amparo or Gabriel Usera. Its main street is the Marcelo Usera, which lies between the Plaza de Fernández Ladreda (the old Plaza Elíptica) and the Glorieta de Cádiz .

It is bordered to the east and northeast of the district Carabanchel , in the northeast on the district Arganzuela and Río Manzanares , to the east by the district Puente de Vallecas and to the south by the District of Villaverde .
