Ushimado (Okayama)

Ushimado ( Japanese 牛 窓 ) is a district of the Japanese city ​​of Setouchi in Okayama Prefecture . Until the merger in 2004 with the municipalities of Oku and Osafune , Ushimado was a 27.50 km² municipality with 7,545 inhabitants in the Oku district, which was dissolved with the restructuring .

geography

Ushimado is east of Okayama on the Seto Inland Sea . In front of the place are the islands of Maeshima (前 島), Aoshima (青島), Kishima (黄島), Kuroshima (黒 島), further west also the island of Inushima (犬 島) belonging to the city of Okayama. Due to the hilly landscape with the offshore islands and the mild climate, Ushimado is also called the Japanese Mediterranean .
