The townscape is determined by the Igreja Paroquial de São Pedro de Avioso . It is dedicated to the patron saint of the place, St. Peter .

São Pedro de Avioso was a municipality ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Maia , in the district of Porto . On June 30, 2011 the community had 3832 inhabitants on an area of 4.9 km².
As part of the administrative reorganization in Portugal in 2013, the municipality of São Pedro de Avioso was merged with the municipalities of Barca , Gemunde , Gondim and Santa Maria de Avioso to form the new municipality of Castêlo de Maia .
