She is the mother of Kriemhild , Gunther , Gernot and Giselher , the kings of the Burgundians . Her husband's name is Dankrat . Ute (Germanic also Oda ) has the gifts of a seer. She proves this ability right at the beginning of the Nibelungenlied when she interprets a dream for her daughter Kriemhild. The position is:

The troum si dô said ir muoter Uoten.
sine kundes not modest baz der guoten:
"The valke you draw, daz is a noble man:
in wave got guard, you have to hân him. " (Str. 14)

In New High German translation:

She told the dream to her mother, Queen Ute.
She couldn't have interpreted it better:
"The falcon you are pulling is a noble man:
If God does not protect him, you will quickly lose him again. "

After Siegfried's death, Ute persuades Krimhild to stay with the Burgundians. According to the Nibelungenlied, Ute founds Lorsch Monastery after the death of her husband Dankrat .
