Ute Güster

Ute Güster (born February 19, 1957 ) is a former Taekwondoin from Düren .

Güster was one of the best Taekwondo fighters in the world in the 1980s. She became world heavyweight champion in Copenhagen in 1983 . In 1984 Ute Güster became European champion and at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul she won a bronze medal. In 1985 and 1988 she was voted Sportswoman of the Year in her hometown of Düren .

In Düren she learned Asian martial arts with Peter Koch and later moved to Aachen to join Kim Chul-hwan .

Güster won 17 out of 23 registered fights. That gives a win rate of 73.9%. She took part in 16 tournaments, eleven with international and five with national valuation.

Ute Güster is a team leader at the Rurtalwerkstätten der Lebenshilfe eV in Düren.
