The Utva Lasta ( Serbian - Cyrillic Утва Ласта for swallow ) is a training aircraft made by the aircraft manufacturer Utva in Pančevo , Serbia . The aircraft should u. a. serve as a basic trainer who can be used after the basic training, but before the jet training.

The Lasta 1 had its first flight as a further development of the Lola Utva 75 in 1985. The modified version Lasta 2 followed in 1989. In the 1990s, work was carried out on a new modified version, the Lasta 3 or younger name Lasta 95; however, the prototypes of the new model were destroyed during the Kosovo war. The project was resumed in 2006. The Iraqi government's interest in the Lasta 95 as the future basic trainer for the Iraqi armed forces brought the project to a close in 2008. According to the latest reports, Iraq plans to procure 20 Lasta 95s. The armed forces of Serbia have expressed an interest in 16 Lasta 95s.
