Uwe Amthor

Uwe Amthor (born January 20, 1945 in Berlin ) is a German SPD politician .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1965, Amthor, who is Protestant-Lutheran , went to the German Armed Forces as a temporary soldier for two years . He then studied chemistry and biology in Hamburg . From 1974 until his retirement he was a teacher for these two subjects at the Bismarck-Gymnasium in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel . He is a member of the Education and Science Union , the Society of German Chemists and the Society of German Natural Scientists and Doctors . He was also a member of the German-Soviet Society .

politics

Amthor joined the SPD in 1974. From 1975 to 1979 and since 1982 he was chairman of the local association Kaltenkirchen , from 1978 to 1980 deputy chairman of the Segeberg district . From 1978 to 1982 Amthor was a member of the district council in the Segeberg district. From 1983 to 1992 he was a member of the state parliament in Schleswig-Holstein , and from 1987 to 1992 he was chairman of the social committee.
