Uwe Kiencke

Uwe Kiencke (born May 5, 1943 in Oldenburg ) is a professor emeritus at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and a textbook author .

After studying electrical engineering at the then University of Karlsruhe and completing his doctorate at the Technical University of Braunschweig , he worked from 1972 to 1987 at Robert Bosch GmbH, Schwieberdingen, and from 1988 to 1992 as Head of Overall Development at Siemens Automotive, Regensburg. Since 1992 he was C4 professor and head of the Institute for Industrial Information Technology (IIIT) at the University of Karlsruhe (TH). Uwe Kiencke retired in autumn 2008.

In 1986 he was awarded the Arch T. Colwell Merit Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers (USA). In 2008 he and Siegfried Dais were awarded the Eduard Rhein Foundation's technology prize for the invention, international standardization and distribution of the Controller Area Network (CAN) .
