Uwe Zink (born February 5, 1952 in the municipality of Wangerland ) is managing director of Flugplatz Aachen - Merzbrück GmbH and is in charge of the expansion and conversion of the airfield into a research airfield. Work on the new runway should be completed in May / June 2020.

Life

After finishing high school in 1967 Uwe zinc completed a bricklayer and purchased on the second chance the technical college in 1971. From 1973 to 1976 he studied at the Polytechnic Wuppertal transport engineering and urban water management and graduated as Dipl.-Ing. from.

After completing his studies, Uwe Zink worked in various areas of the Düsseldorf city ​​administration from 1976 to 1994 . From 1980 to 1989 he was in charge of a street entertainment district . He then worked for a year in the auditing office before he was personal assistant to the Mayor of Düsseldorf, Klaus Bungert , from 1990 to 1994 . The environmental symposia in Düsseldorf, which he helped to organize, were of national importance. a. the area of ​​environmental protection in companies was dealt with intensively.

From 1994 to 2017 Uwe Zink was the head of the Aachen City Region and responsible for Department IV (Environment, District Planning, Construction, Cadastre and Surveying). Since 2009 he has also been responsible for the veterinary and food inspection office.

In 2009 he ran as an SPD applicant for the first CityRegionsrat Aachen.

In addition to his work as head of the city region, Uwe Zink held various management positions, for example for the non-profit housing association for the Aachen district (1998–1999), for Aachener Kreuz - Merzbrück GmbH (since 1999) and for Flugplatz Aachen-Merzbrück GmbH (since 2006) . He is also the managing director of the tourist association "Grünmetropole eV"

Uwe Zink has been a member of the SPD , the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) and the Alemannia Aachen since 1977 . He lives in Würselen and has two grown children.
