Václav Snášel
Václav Snášel (born August 2, 1957 in Tábor ) is a Czech mathematician, computer scientist and information scientist. He has been the rector of the Ostrava University of Technology (VŠB-TUO) since 2017 .
Life
Václav Snášel received his doctorate in natural sciences (RNDr.) In the field of numerical mathematics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the Palacký University in Olomouc . In 1991 he completed a research doctorate for candidate of sciences (CSc.) In the field of algebra and number theory at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Masaryk University in Brno . In 2001 he completed his habilitation in the computer science department of the Technical University of Ostrava.
In 2006 he was appointed professor of computer science at the Technical University of Ostrava. Since 2010 he has been dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
On September 1, 2017, Václav Snášel was appointed Rector of the Technical University of Ostrava after his election by President Miloš Zeman . He succeeded Ivo Vondrák .
The main research and teaching areas are documentation and information systems, knowledge systems, ontology, data compression, XML, multi-agent systems, ordered set theory, associations of terms and semantic web.
