Väätsa (German: Waetz ) was a rural community in the Estonian district of Järva with an area of 195 km². It had 1487 inhabitants (2010).
Väätsa was first mentioned in a document in 1564. Written sources speak of a mansion from 1639 onwards. The current mansion dates from the first half of the 19th century. It was built in the early classical style. There has been a school in it since 1925.
The rural municipality of Väätsa included the eleven villages Aasuvälja, Lõõla, Piiumetsa, Reopalu, Roovere, Röa , Saueaugu, Ülejõe, Vissuvere, Väätsa and Väljataguse.
