Värtans IK

The Värtans Idrottsklubb is a Swedish football club from Stockholm . The club's most successful period in the 1930s, when the team played in the second division for several years .

history

As early as 1911, in the run-up to the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, a sports club was founded in the Stockholm district of Hjorthagen . This broke up in the early 1920s for economic reasons, and in July 1924 today's club was founded.

Initially, the Värtans IK team competed in the lower division, and in 1935 they rose to the second division as a season winner before Reymersholms IK . There she reached in her first year behind Djurgårdens IF and Skarblacka IF as third in the table, the best result in the club's history, which was repeated again after a seventh place in the table in the subsequent 1938 season. After several places in the middle of the table, the club rose in 1941 together with Nynäshamns IF from its second division season, already in 1944 with the relegation to fourth division followed for a long time the farewell to higher class football.

1996 still fifth class Värtans IK returned with two consecutive promotions for the 1998 season in the third division.
