Véréna Paravel (born April 21, 1971 in Neuchâtel NE ) is a French anthropologist , filmmaker , video artist and photographer .

life and work

Véréna Paravel was born in Switzerland to French parents and grew up in Algeria , Portugal , Togo , Ivory Coast , the Soviet Union and France. She studied with Bruno Latour at Mines ParisTech and received her Ph.D. from the University of Toulouse . In 2004 she moved to New York City to work at Columbia University . Since 2008 she has been working with Lucien Castaing-Taylor in the Sensory Ethnography Lab at Harvard University .

Still Life / Nature Morte was shown at the 2014 Whitney Biennial . In 2017 she exhibited at documenta 14 .
