CUP Vilnius ( C entrinė u niversalinė p arduotuvė, Eng. "Central Department Store ") is a shopping center in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius . It was established in Soviet times .
Location and facility
CUP Vilnius is located in the Šnipškės district , near Vilnius City , on the right bank of the Neris near the Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva (ex Reval ). The area is 27,000 square meters. There are 180 trading venues. There is a parking lot next to the department store.
history
The department store was built in 1973 as a central Soviet univermag of the Lithuanian capital according to the project by architects Zigmantas Liandzbergis, Vytautas Vielius and Česlovas Gerliakas. It was opened in the spring of 1974. In 2003 the shopping center was renewed according to the project by Leonidas Merkinas .
On September 21, 1992, the company was registered as Vilniaus centrinė universalinė parduotuvė . Then it became AB VCUP and in 2018 UAB PREKYBOS CENTRAS VCUP. Since February 2019 the company has been operating as UAB "Prosperitas Baltica".
