Vilnius City is a financial district and a neighborhood in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius , in and around the Šnipiškės district . It is mainly located on the right bank of the Neris River in central Vilnius around Europos aikštė . Commercial and office buildings are located here, including some architecturally spectacular skyscrapers . Occasionally there are also luxurious residential units (tower apartments ). The tallest building is the Europa Tower with 33 floors and a height of 148 meters (the tallest skyscraper in the Baltic countries ).

history
The beginnings of Vilnius City go back to 1963 when the Soviet Inturist Hotel was designed for international tourists. In 1966 the construction of the hotel with 20 floors began. In 1967 the project was changed and a total of 22 floors were planned.
Many construction projects have been carried out with the support of the Vilnius city administration. The idea of this project was based on the fact that no historically valuable building structure had to be demolished here. In addition, there was already a very good transport infrastructure here that only had to be modernized and integrated. The first construction activities on the future area of Vilnius City started in the mid-1990s. The first project of the 3 burės office tower was designed in 2002, two office towers were built in 2008 and the third was built from 2016 to 2018.
