The VC Bottrop 90 e. V. is a volleyball club from Bottrop , whose first men's team played in the first division under the name RWE Volleys Bottrop . VC Bottrop 90 was created in 1990 through the merger of the clubs VC Bottrop 69 and VC Eigen Bottrop in 1974.

The squad for the 2012/13 season had to be restructured after the sporting relegation from the 1st Bundesliga in the 2011/12 season and the departure of numerous players. The Macedonian Goran Aleksov became the new head coach in July 2012. With him succeeded the immediate rise in the 2012/13 season with 38:10 points and 61:22 sets. The team initially played in the first division again in the 2013/14 season. In December 2013 the Bottropers ended again in the German upper house. Due to repeated economic violations, the German Volleyball League withdrew the Bundesliga license from the Bottropers. The parent club VC Bottrop 90 will no longer be allowed to play in the Bundesliga for the next three years.
Since the beginning of 2014, the VC Bottrop 90 has completely reorganized itself. Of course, sport is in the foreground of his work. And the VC 90 wants to promote youth sport in particular with its commitment. To this end, the association employs trainers who are motivated to support the next generation of athletes. An official certificate of good conduct is required from them as well as from the other volunteers. So the VC Bottrop 90 eV can be sure that everything is in good hands.
Sport not only promotes fitness and health, but also social interaction, friendship and team spirit. And so training and playing should not only generate ambition. No, the sport in VC Bottrop should also be fun. And this in the various activity facets that the VC offers.
In health sports with power gymnastics, back fitness or cardiac sports, for example, or in the sport for which the V stands, namely volleyball. The VC 90 can be found regularly "open air" from May to September on the Jacobi beach volleyball facility in Bottrop-Fuhlenbrock. Games, fun and enjoyment are offered here, as well as performance for everyone who enjoys doing sports outside.
The VC teams can be found in the hall all year round. From children's to adult teams, the members train at four locations in Bottrop.
In the 2014/15 season, VC Bottrop plays with four women’s, two men’s and a number of youth teams in the leagues of the West German Volleyball Association (WVV).
