VDA-FS

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With VDA-FS is called a data format for exchanging geometry information between different CAD systems.

VDA-FS is short for V erband d it A utomobilindustrie - F lächen s NTERFACE.

With this interface only 3D information can be transmitted and no drawing information, as is possible with IGES or STEP .

VDA-FS was and is mainly used to transfer 3D data between CAD systems such as B. to convert CATIA , Unigraphics and Tebis . Some measuring machines record contours in this format and make the data available to CAD systems. B. a TARGET-ACTUAL comparison is possible.

VDA-FS version 2.0 comprises the following elements:

  • Geometric elements
    • Point
    • Point sequence
    • Point vector sequence
    • circle
    • Curve
    • surface
    • Curve on a surface
    • delimiting area
    • Polysurface
  • Not geometric elements
    • Start and end identifier
    • comment
    • group
    • Transformation matrix
    • Transformation list
