The VR Bank Leipzig eG was a German cooperative bank based in Borna . As the primary bank, it was part of the cooperative financial network. Its organs were the board of directors, the supervisory board and the representative assembly.
Business area
VR Bank Leipziger Land eG operated in the western half of the Leipzig district. It operated thirteen branches and two self-service points. The purpose of the cooperative was the economic promotion and support of the members.
Customer structure and number of members
The bank had around 30,000 customers. On December 31, 2011, 9,770 customers were also members of the VR Bank cooperative.
history
The establishment of the oldest line of the bank was based on a proposal by the Borna attorney Hoffmann, who on December 18, 1860, proposed the establishment of an advance payment association in the Borna trade association. This was subsequently founded and the later Volksbank Borna eG emerged from it. The Raiffeisenbank Borna eG was formed in the course of the merger of several rural associations, u. a. from the savings and advance payment association for Lobstädt and the surrounding area (founded in 1869, later "Lobstädter Bank eGmbH"), the savings and loan fund Pödelwitz and the Groitzsch potato flake factory. Volksbank Borna eG and Raiffeisenbank Borna eG merged in 1993 to form Volksbank and Raiffeisenbank Borna eG, the latter merged with Raiffeisenbank Geithain eG in 2005 to form VR Bank Leipziger Land eG.
Merger with Volksbank Leipzig eG
At the beginning of 2013, VR Bank Leipziger Land eG and Volksbank Leipzig eG announced their intention to merge. The merger agreement was completed on July 4, 2013, the registration court was announced on August 22, 2013. The name of the united bank is Leipziger Volksbank eG .
