VWR International is an American laboratory equipment distributor based in Radnor in the Delaware Valley .

In 1966, Seattle- based Van Waters & Rogers merged to form Univar Corporation . In 1986 this was split up into the existing Univar , a chemicals dealer , and the new VWR Corporation. 2004 sold Merck KGaA the company to the private equity -Gesellschaft Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD & R). It passed this on to Madison Dearborn Partners (MDP) in 2007 , who floated the company on the stock exchange in 2014. VWR International was taken over by Avantor on November 22, 2017 .

The German subsidiary is based in Darmstadt .
