Vaghena (also Wagina ) is an island of about 110 km² in the island republic of Solomon Islands . It is located around 25 km southeast of the island of Choiseul and belongs to the Choiseul province of the same name . Between and Choiseul and Vaghena there is only the small island of Rob Roy .
The population of around 1,600 is made up of locals from the Volaikana tribe as well as settlers from the Gilbert Islands who were brought to Vaghena during British colonial rule.
