The Val Bever begins six kilometers north of the Julier Pass and one kilometer east of the Piz Picuogl at the source of the Beverin. It extends first in a north-easterly direction to Spinas , then in an east-south-east direction, largely parallel to the south side of the Albula Pass, which is about nine kilometers away and separated by another mountain range, to the eponymous town of Bever . Here the Val Bever joins the Engadine .

The Val Bever is hardly populated. Apart from a few farm buildings, there are only a few other buildings in Spinas. There is no road above Spinas. The road between Bever and Spinas is closed to traffic.

The Val Bever is largely untouched and is only used gently for tourism for hiking, cross-country skiing and other activities.
