Valentin Molitor

Valentin Molitor (born April 15, 1637 in Rapperswil , † October 4, 1713 in Weingarten ) was a Swiss composer and organist of the Baroque and Benedictine monks .

When he entered the Benedictine monastery of St. Gallen in 1656, he changed his original name, Valentin Müller, to the Latin form "Molitor" . Molitor was ordained a priest there in 1662. After working as a teacher and organist in various monasteries, in 1683 he was appointed cantor in the monastery of St. Gallen, where he became conductor two years later. He spent the last years of his life in Weingarten Abbey in Württemberg.
