Valentina Serova ( Russian Валентина Васильевна Серова ., Scientific transliteration Valentina Serova Vasil'evna , Ukrainian Валентина Василівна Сєрова Walentyna Wassyliwna Serova * 23. December 1917 in Kharkiv ; †  12. December 1975 in Moscow ) was a Soviet film and theater - Actress .

Life

Valentina Serowa was born in 1917 as Valentina Polowikowa ( Валентина Половикова ) in the family of actress Klawdija Polowikowa (née Didenko) and the hydro-engineer Vasyl Polowikow.

On May 11, 1938, she married her first husband, Anatoly Serov , a test pilot and brigade commander of the Soviet Air Force , whom she had met only a few days earlier. Serow was killed on May 11, 1939 during a training flight together with Polina Ossipenko . In the same year the film "Girl with Character" ( Russian Девушка с характером ) had great success and Serova became one of the greatest movie stars of that time in the Soviet Union .

In 1940 she met Konstantin Simonow , a well-known Russian author, whom she married in 1943. She inspired Simonov to write a series of love poems that were published in 1942 under the title "С тобой и без тебя" ( With you and without you ). The love and war poem " Waiting for me " and the film of the same name, for which Simonov wrote the screenplay, are known. Their marriage was not easy and was strained, among other things, by Serova's public love affair with Marshal Konstantin Rokossowski (between 1942 and 1946). In 1957 Simonov left her.

Serova only appeared sporadically in films after the 1940s. In 1975 she died in Moscow.
