Anatoli Konstantinowitsch Serow
Anatoly Konstantinovich Serov ( Russian Анатолий Константинович Серов ; born March 20 . Jul / 2. April 1910 greg. In Woronzowka , Perm province ; † 11. May 1939 in Wysokoje , Ryazan Oblast ) was a Soviet pilot.
Anatoly Serov took part in the Spanish Civil War on the part of the Republic in 1937/38 and shot down eight enemy aircraft in 40 missions. On March 2, 1938 he was therefore named Hero of the Soviet Union . He was the first husband of actress Valentina Serova . Both had met on May 3, 1938 and married on May 11, 1938.
During an instrument flight on a Polikarpow I-16UTI-4, he overshot the aircraft at a low altitude, went into a tailspin and had a fatal accident with his instructor Polina Ossipenko . Both were buried at the necropolis on the Kremlin wall .
