Aurelius Valerius Valens († 316/317) was 316 or 316/317 co-emperor of the Roman emperor Licinius .

Valens was previously responsible for border security in the Roman province of Dacia as dux limitis . After his defeat in the Battle of Cibalae Licinius went to Dacia and made him co-emperor. In the literary tradition he is only referred to as Caesar , that is, as sub-emperor of Licinius, but on his coins he calls himself Augustus , with which he nominally held the same rank as Licinius. After Licinius was again unable to defeat his adversary Constantine the Great in the Battle of Mardia , he was forced by the latter to depose Valens and have him executed.
