Valhalla was a Spanish power metal band formed in 1997 in Vizcaya .

Band history

Valhalla was founded in 1997 by Jevo (vocals / guitar), Xabier Coto (guitar), Iván Valdemoros (bass) and Iván Corcuera (drums). Just three months after their first concert, Xabier Coto left the group and was replaced by Mikel Martinez. In 1998 the first demo Guardians of Metal was released . With Javi "Patxa" Navarro the group took on a new singer in the band, who replaced Jevo. The band played among other things in the opening act of Metal Church on their Spain tour.

The first CD Beyond the Underworld was released as an in-house production. With this CD the group was able to sign a record deal with the Spanish label Zero. The first album for the record company was released in 2001 under the title Once Upon a Time . For the cover drew Derek Riggs responsible. After Mikel Martinez and Ignacio "Jevo" Garamendi had to share the bass parts on this album, a new bass player was found in Chefy.

For the 2003 album Nightbreed , the group switched to Goimusic. Due to the poor sales, the group switched again to Grabasonic. The last work The Aftermath was published in 2005.

Music genre

Valhalla play a mix of modern European power metal and the traditional heavy metal that has been typical of the new Spanish scene since the turn of the millennium. The early works by Helloween and Iron Maiden are particularly influential .
