The Valstiečių ir Naujosios democijos partijų sąjunga ( VNDS , German  Union of the Peasant Party and the New Democracy Party ) was a Lithuanian party that was formed on December 15, 2001 through the merger of the Lithuanian Peasant Party with the New Democracy Party . It was renamed at the 3rd Party Congress in December 2005 in Lietuvos valstiečių liaudininkų sąjunga (LVLS, German Lithuanian Peasant and People's Union ).

history

The party leader was in the four years of existence of the Kazimiera Prunskienė party , which had previously led the party of the new democracy. The reason for the merger was the poor results of both parties in the parliamentary elections in autumn 2000 .

In the 2004 parliamentary elections , the VNDS received 6.6% of the second vote and thus a total of 10 seats in the 141-seat Lithuanian parliament . VNDS became the majority buyer for the Brazauskas government , while Ms. Prunskienė was given the Ministry of Agriculture.
