Valy ( Persian ولی), with full name Valy Hedjasi (born May 29, 1986 in Maschhad , Iran ), is a pop musician from Afghanistan who grew up in Heidelberg .

biography

His parents, both artists and musicians, come from Herat in Afghanistan. At the age of seven he played traditional instruments. He later received instruction in Indian, Arabic and Persian music. His teachers include the late Afghan musician Nasrat Parsa , who taught him classical Indian music, and Bassam Ayoub.

Even before the release of his first album, which was released by the Iranian record label Avang, Valy became known among Afghans and Iranians through the two singles Bia Tu and Delamo Shekoondi . Since the release of his first album After Love in 2007, he has been considered one of the most successful Afghan musicians, and one of the very few who also achieved great fame in neighboring Iran. The album was produced by Kostas Karagiozidis, who also produced several albums by the Iranian singer Afshin .

Shortly after the release of his first album, Valy went on his first tour ( Bia Tu Tour ). It included five concerts in Canada and the United States.

For his success, Valy was named Best Artist of the Year at the Noor TV Awards 2008 . In May 2008, Valy appeared on the cover of Sitara Magazine .

During an appearance in California as part of the Nawroz 2008 Celebration , Valy announced the establishment of the Valy Foundation, whose purpose is the charitable support of the children of Afghanistan.

In the two song releases Setara and Don - Larsha Nangarhar Ta he also sang a few stanzas on Pashto .

Valy's second album Crazy in Love was released in 2011.
