The family is mentioned for the first time in a document on June 22, 1364 in Vangerow ( Neustettin district ) with the "Olde Kraianten", husbands of Duke Wartislaw V. Thyme von Vangerow tho Vangerow is mentioned in documents in 1411, Hans Vangerow tho Vangerow in 1481 and Marten Vangerow in 1538.
