Vanhelgd is a Swedish death metal band from Mjölby that was formed in 2007.

history

The band was founded in late 2007 and consisted of drummer Björn Andersson, guitarist Jimmy Johansson and singer and guitarist Mattias Frisk. Together they developed the first songs before Viktor Gustafsson joined the group as bassist in early 2008. A first demo was recorded, some songs of which were published on the Internet. Then the band recorded eight songs in the Backbone Studios in Mjölby, whereupon the debut album Cult of Lazarus was released on Crematorium Records in November 2008. Then came the band with Nuclear War Now! Productions in contact, about which the debut album was re-released in 2009. In the summer of the same year, the group recorded another demo. The song Nec spe, nec metu was also heard on the sampler Invocation of Death , which was released in June 2010 by Death Invocation Records . In April 2010 the band began recording their second album called Church of Death . After the work was finished in September, two of these songs appeared on the EP Praise the Serpent , which was included on the Nuclear War Now! Festival in Berlin , in which the band also took part. Church of Death was released in 2011. In 2013 Jonas Albrektson joined the line-up as the new bass player. In the same year, the group also signed a contract with Pulverized Records .

style

According to Scott Alisoglu of teethofthedivine.com, the band plays classic death metal, but it is more like the music of Finnish than that of Swedish bands. Many songs are also in Swedish .
